The City of Nichols Hills was founded in 1929 by Dr. G.A. Nichols. The city streets in Nichols Hills were named after towns and villages in England. This year in light of the recent Royal Wedding of Prince William of Wales to Miss Catherine Middleton we are celebrating all things beautiful and English! What is more beautiful than an English garden? The English garden, also called an English landscape park, is a style of landscape garden which emerged in England in the early 18th century. The English garden presented an idealized view of nature, often inspired by paintings of landscapes by famous artists.

This year’s garden tour will wind ticket holders through the lush gardens of five (5) homes that are all fit for royalty. The homes are located on Drury Lane, Larchmont Lane, Elmhurst Avenue, Bedford Drive and Huntington Avenue. For example, at the home of Courtney and Carl Holliday at 1905 Bedford Drive, you can look out every window and see a glorious and colorful flowerbed, and at the home of Sue and Donald Timberlake at 1600 Elmhurst Avenue, you can walk outside to their vegetable garden and pick out delectable items for your meal. You will be full of ideas of what to do in your own garden spaces. We will be celebrating the twenty-eighth (28th) Anniversary of Nichols Hills Parks, Inc. All proceeds of the tour benefit the thirty-one (31) parks that are enjoyed by the entire Nichols Hills and Oklahoma City community. Susan Marshall is the President of Nichols Hills Parks, Inc.
