Sanitation Route Carrier w/CDL
 
JOB SUMMARY
This is a non-exempt sanitation carrier position requiring manual labor in the collection of refuse.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform a variety of labor and semi-skilled work in refuse collection, disposal, and other requested task.
Lifts heavy cans of refuse; picks up small bundles of brush; unloads refuse at a designated landfill; may operate compaction equipment and lift equipment on rear-loading refuse truck.
Maintains equipment by checking oil, water, tires, and makes adjustments by refilling or reporting for repair. Cleans truck and equipment and may perform minor repairs to equipment used; also keeps the inside of the truck clean.
Must be able to work extended hours or until the job is finished as required.
 
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and assist crew in collecting refuse.
Must be willing to work on different truck routes when requested by supervisor.
Apply basic safety and job assignment principles.
Work’s in environments that are subjected to inclement weather, foul odors, and extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
Ability to detect malfunctions of equipment, operation of packer trucks, and operation of radio and telephone equipment.
H.S. Graduate or equivalent
Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, and criminal history check.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs on as-needed bases.
Work is customarily performed out of doors, in inclement weather, extremes in temperature, and in close proximity of foul odors, rodents, dirt, traffic, chemicals, broken glass, dogs, other hazards, and generally unpleasant conditions. 
Heavy lifting may be required frequently. A very extensive amount of walking is required, continuous stooping and bending, and frequent reaching.
