The “R-U-OK” program was developed out of concern for those residents of the community who are elderly or handicapped and living alone. The Police and Fire departments became aware that an increasing number of our residents fall into this category. In many instances, these individuals do not have relatives living nearby to look after their welfare.
Our response was to attempt to identify those persons who should be included in a welfare surveillance program. Once identified, and with their voluntary approval, they are placed on a list maintained by the police and fire departments. A group of volunteers routinely call the residents on the list to check their welfare as frequently as the participant requests and determine if special assistance is needed.
The resident controls what information is kept on them and this is done as a service only. If the need arose, we will have contact information for their doctor and/or family. If you would like to more information on this program, please contact the Police Department at (405) 843-6170 or download an application form from the bottom of this page. (Requires Adobe Acrobat)
