TRIAD/ S.A.L.T

|
Triad is the agreement between the sheriff’s office, police departments and older adults in the community to work together on a joint approach to crime issues that effect older citizens. S.A.L.T. stands for Seniors and Law Enforcement Together. The S.A.L.T. program is for Senior Citizens who want to have training in how not to be a victim of scams, fraud, and other issues that Senior Citizens encounter or are interested in learning. We also have a Senior Awareness day at one of the malls in January that is free for Seniors. Senior Awareness day is provided by Integris Heath Third Age Life. They have free health screenings, exhibits that provide information on services and programs available for senior citizens. They also have a Pharmacist available to look at your prescribed and over the counter medications to see if the medications interact well with each other or if they cause one of your medications to not work. We will also have programs to help other senior citizens. For example: On February 12th the Nichols Hills Police Department will be handing out 9-1-1 cell phones to seniors who cannot afford a phone. The phones are free and were donated by private citizens. Most of the phones are used phones that have been refurbished. We have several programs thru out the year for seniors that benefit seniors. If you are someone who likes to volunteer for good causes, these programs give you that opportunity. If you are someone who likes to learn new things that benefit you, then we provide the programs and education. The S.A.L.T. program is also a contact for you if you know someone who is in need of help. The S.A.L.T. program also provides a chance to meet new people and make new friends. The program gives you a chance to get to know a law enforcement official who can answer questions you have been uncomfortable asking in the past. The S.A.L.T. program is your program and is offered to you without costing you any money. If you have any questions about the program, feel free to call the Nichols Hills Police Department. 843-5672. I will try to answer your questions and if I do not know the answer I will find out and contact you. This Program is offered to any Senior Citizen. You do not have to live in Nichols Hills to join S.A.L.T.
