Public Comment Welcomed for City Building Code Updates
The City of Nichols Hills is in the process of reviewing its building codes for possible updates. Public comment is welcomed for this process. Under Oklahoma law, cities and towns must adopt and enforce codes adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission, and may enact and enforce rules containing higher standards and requirements than the codes adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission. The State recently adopted more recent editions of the building codes than are adopted and in effect in Nichols Hills. Toward that end, the Nichols Hills City Council has appointed a City Building Code Committee to review these State changes and consider whether any higher building standards are necessary in the City.
The City’s current building codes may be found in the City Code, which is available at the following: Nichols Hills Online Code Book
Interested parties are invited to join the dialogue and expand the consensus around the City’s building code updates and may provide comments to the Building Code Committee. Public comment may be submitted in person at the Building Code Committee meetings or in writing using the public comment forms provided below. Written public comment may be submitted via email to email@example.com
or mail or in person to the City Clerk, located at City Hall, 6407 Avondale Drive, Nichols Hills, OK 73116.
