1.      Call to Order
 
Chairman Herzel called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. 
 
2.      Roll Call
 
Acknowledgement was made by Chairman Herzel, Peg Malloy, Mary Ellen Ternes, Carlene Burger, Lucy Covington and Marty Smith were present.­­­­­­­­­­
 
3.      Approval of Minutes:  May 22, 2013
 
APPROVED:  Malloy made a MOTION to approve the May 22, 2013; the motion was seconded by Smith. 
 
            AYES: Herzel, Burger, Malloy, Ternes, Smith and Covington.
                        NAYES: None
 
4.      Discussion, Consideration and Possible Action regarding recycling.
 
Goodwill Industries was considered as a recycling option for Nichols Hills residents.  EHSC members discussed a “Pay as you Throw” recycling program, where residents would purchase “stickers” to put on their recycling bags prior to being picked up.
 
Motion was made by Carlene Burger, requesting Chairman Herzel to approach city council members for consideration of a program such as “Pay as you Throw”.  Malloy seconded the motion.
            AYES: Herzel, Burger, Malloy, Ternes, Smith and Covington.
                        NAYES: None
 
5.      Discussion, Consideration and Possible Action regarding waste.
 
The commission discussed ways to inform residents about reducing waste.
 
 
6.      Announcements.
 
 
 
 
7.      Adjournment.
 
Motion was made by Carlene Burger to adjourn this meeting.  Mary Ellen Ternes seconded the motion.
            AYES: Herzel, Burger, Ternes, Smith and Covington.
