Grand Blvd Paving will continue Tuesday morning May 22, 2018. Grand Blvd will be closed from Nichols Road to Sherwood Lane. Sherwood Lane to NW 63rd will be closed on June 5th for concrete paving until project is completed. Projected completion date is September 1, 2018. (Project PC-1702)

Minutes of the Planning Commission Meeting

December 4, 2012

1.      Call to Order.

 

Chairman Bickford called the meeting to order.

 

2.      Roll Call.

 

Acknowledgment was made by Chairman Bickford that all commission members were present. 

 

3.      Citizens desiring to be heard:  None

 

4.      Minutes:    October 2, 2012

 

APPROVED:  Savage moved to approve the minutes.  McCaleb seconded the motion. 

AYES: Bickford, Gilbert, McCaleb, Cohn, Pringle and Savage.

NAYES:  None

ABSTAIN:

 

5.      Work Session to discuss placement of antenna systems as requested by City Council.

 

No Action taken.

 

6.      PUBLIC HEARING: Discussion, Consideration and Possible Approval or disapproval on Case PC 2012-12-02 for which the owners of 1700 Wilshire Boulevard are requesting to erect a fence higher than allowed by code.  This property is currently zoned E-1.

 

Mr. Bill Shdeed, representative for the applicant, addressed the commission members.  Applicant, commission members and staff discussed the request to construct a fence higher than allowed in front of the home to be built.  Applicant advised the open wrought iron fence will be 6 foot with 7 foot brick columns.

 

Chairman Bickford opened the public hearing for this agenda item.  Dr. Norman Imes, Ms. Kay Kuykendall and a spokesperson for Kara and Robert Barnes were among residents speaking in support of the proposed fence.  Seeing no others expressing a desire to be heard, Chairman Bickford closed the public hearing.

 

 

Gilbert moved to recommend approval to the City Council, the application to build a fence higher than that otherwise allowed, with respect to the portion of the fence for which such approval is required, on the condition that applicant provide updated diagrams and information to the City Council accurately reflecting all representations made to the Planning Commission including the representation that the fence will be open wrought iron throughout the approved portion of the fence.  Savage seconded the motion.

AYES: Bickford, Gilbert, Pringle, McCaleb, Cohn and Savage.

NAYES:  None.

 

 

7.      PUBLIC HEARING: Discussion, Consideration and Possible action recommending the amendment of Section 25-57 regarding landscaping requirements for all zoning districts.

 

Following staff report, Chairman Bickford opened the public hearing for this agenda item.  Seeing that no one present expressed a desire to speak, the public hearing was closed.

McCaleb moved to recommend approval of item 7 to City council.  Gilbert seconded the motion.  

AYES: Bickford, Gilbert, Pringle, McCaleb, Cohn and Savage.

NAYES:  None.

 

 

8.      PUBLIC HEARING: Discussion, Consideration and Possible Approval or disapproval to consider adoption and enactment of a new code of ordinances of the City, published in 2012 by Municipal Code Corporation, entitled “Nichols Hills City Code, 2012,” also called Nichols Hills City Code.

 

Following staff report, Chairman Bickford opened the public hearing for this agenda item.  Nancy Herzel asked when the online version of the Nichols Hills City Code, 2012 would be available on the website.  City Attorney John Michael Williams advised upon approval by City Council, the code would be updated approximately within one month of notification. Seeing no other citizens expressing a desire to speak, the public hearing was closed. Pringle moved to recommend approval of item 8 to City Council.  Savage seconded the motion.

AYES: Bickford, Gilbert, Pringle, McCaleb, Cohn and Savage.

NAYES:  None.

 

9.      PUBLIC HEARING:  Discussion, Consideration and Possible Approval or Disapproval of amendments to the Nichols Hills Code regarding building setbacks on corner lots.

 

Chairman Bickford advised commission members Mr. Jay Yowell was not able to be present this evening; therefore, he recommended this item be continued.  McCaleb moved to continue this public hearing to the regular scheduled meeting on February 5, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.  Savage seconded the motion.

AYES: Bickford, Gilbert, Pringle, McCaleb, Cohn and Savage.

NAYES:  None.

 

10.  Discussion, Consideration and Possible Approval or Disapproval of the 2013 Schedule of Regular meetings.

 

Chairman Bickford and commission members discussed meeting dates for January, July and November.  Following the discussion, McCaleb moved approval of item as modified.  Savage seconded the motion.

AYES: Bickford, Gilbert, Pringle, McCaleb, Cohn and Savage.

NAYES:  None.

 

11.  Adjournment

 

There being no further business, Gilbert moved to adjourn the meeting.  McCaleb seconded the motion.
