Grand Blvd Paving will continue Tuesday morning May 22, 2018. Grand Blvd will be closed from Nichols Road to Sherwood Lane. Sherwood Lane to NW 63rd will be closed on June 5th for concrete paving until project is completed. Projected completion date is July 1, 2018. (Project PC-1702)

1.    Call to Order

 

Chairman Frates called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. 

 

2.    Roll Call

 

 

Acknowledgement was made by Chairman Frates that she along with Members Nancy Herzel Pat Schonwald, Carlene Burger, and Mary Ellen Ternes were present.  The following members were absent: Rance Shields, Marty Smith, Peg Malloy, Mary Richard and Kathy Brewer.

4.    Old Business:

 

 

a)  Discussion, Consideration, and Possible Recommendation regarding introduction of Advisory Guests and Liaisons.

Chairperson Frates introduced Oklahoma State University Professor Jeff Hattey, Ms. Susan Marshall – Parks Inc.; and Ms. Kathy Walker – Planet Nichols Hills.

 

b)  Discussion, Consideration, and Possible Recommendation regarding update form City Manager David Poole on trail grants to ODOT and Harold Hamm walking path.

 

 

City Manager David Poole provided an update to the EHS Commission of Mr. Harold Hamm’s donation of a walking trail along Grand, which will tie into the existing trail at Sherwood and Central Grand.   

 

MOVED to present Mr. Harold Hamm a resolution thanking him for the wonderful donation to the community of Nichols Hills. Moved by Frates, seconded by Ternes.  AYES: Frates, Schonwald, Burger, Ternes, Herzel

Chairperson Frates continued the discussion by acknowledging the offer of Mr. Peter Hoffman to manage the fund raising drive of obtaining one hundred percent of private fund donations for the matching funds necessary for the ODOT trail grant. Ms. Pat Schonwald stated that it would be a nice addition to the trails for mile markings noted along the trails for the walkers and bike riders.  Ms. Susan Marshall offered perhaps the eagle scouts would be interested in assisting with this endeavor.

 

c)  Discussion, Consideration, and Possible Recommendation regarding final Earth Day report and recommendations to Planet Nichols Hills and the Nichols Hills City Council

 

 

MOVED to present Mr. Harold Hamm a resolution thanking him for the wonderful donation to the community of Nichols Hills. Moved by Frates, seconded by Ternes.  AYES: Frates, Schonwald, Burger, Ternes, Herzel

 

d)  Discussion, Consideration and Possible Recommendation on the study by Oklahoma State University students for water conservation for the City of Nichols Hills.  Professor Jeff Hattey will provide a presentation to the group.

 

Professor Hattey provided a lengthy discussion regarding the results of the water conservation study.  Questions from members were addressed by City Manager David Poole and Professor Hattey. 

MOTION: to recommend Professor Hattey and City Manager David Poole work together to determine an appropriate time to present the program to Nichols Hills City Council with a recommendation to begin the second phase and parameters of this phase with an emphasizes on citizen education, seconded by Burger.  AYES: Frates, Schonwald, Burger, Ternes, Herzel

 

e)  Discussion, Consideration and Possible Recommendation of the Garden Tour update and role of commissioners to assist.

 

Susan Marshall provided an update of the upcoming Garden Tour.

 

f)   Discussion, Consideration and Possible Recommendation regarding the community events update by Guest Advisors and Liaisons.

 

Chairman Frates advised this agenda items will be a standard agenda item, where members may discuss upcoming events.  No Action was taken.

 

 

g)  Discussion, Consideration and Possible Recommendation regarding update on focus meeting schedule.

 

No Action was taken.
